The Trojans Hockey Club is committed to ensuring that equity pervades all aspects of its development.
It acknowledges and adopts the following Sport England definition of Sports Equity:
“Sports Equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to all members of society.”
The Trojans Hockey Club:

respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat everyone equally within the context of their sport, regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality or social/economic status
- is committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their sport in an environment free from threat of intimidation, harassment and abuse

will deal with any incidence of discriminatory behaviour seriously, according to Trojan Hockey Club disciplinary procedures
All Trojan Hockey Club members have a responsibility to oppose discriminatory behaviour and promote equality of opportunity
Team selection is made by a committee comprising: Selection chair, team captains and coaches and follows these principles:

Only fully paid-up members will be selected

The best available match-fit players

Attendance and performance at club/team training

Ability or potential to play at a higher level

Adherence to the Hockey Club Code of Conduct

Players will normally move up or down by no more than one team at any given selection

Players ‘dropped’ from a team will receive feedback from the captain of the ‘higher’ team
PLAYER DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES
Disciplinary matters are dealt with by the Selection Committee.
- Players are expected to participate within the rules and spirit of the game of hockey

Players receiving a yellow or red card must be declared to the Chairman of Selection prior to any future selection

Players (or their representative) receiving a ‘yellow card’ must attend a disciplinary meeting, comprising the Selection Committee, prior to selection for the next game

Players receiving a ‘yellow card’ for dissent will not be selected for the next game

Players receiving a ‘red card’ will be suspended from playing pending a disciplinary meeting with the Hockey Committee
